Visiting Investigator at KAUST & Adjunct Assistant Professor Alfaisal University
Dr. Ageely’s research is in the area of gene therapy. Her primary focus lies in the development of cutting-edge gene therapeutic tools, including CRISPR/Cas9, exome skipping, and gene augmentation. Her research aims to correct pathogenic mutations found in genes prevalent in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). She is particularly interested in the advancement of gene therapy strategies for Inherited Retinal Degeneration (IRD) specifically tailored to the unique genetic landscape of KSA. She contributes to a diverse range of projects including (1) engineering and Design of Non-viral Carriers, (2) gene correction strategy for Usher syndrome Type 2A, and (3) engineering of chemically RNA-guided Enzymes.
